Private Airline’s Aircraft Conducts Emergency Landing at Islamabad Airport Following Bird Strike
On Friday, a private airline’s flight from Islamabad to Karachi had to make an emergency landing at Islamabad airport due to a bird-hit incident. According to the details, flight PA-201 departed from Islamabad Airport at 10:48 a.m. Shortly after takeoff, a bird collided with the Airbus A-320’s upper side glass, causing damage to the aircraft.
The pilot immediately reported the incident to the Islamabad airport’s air traffic control and requested clearance for an emergency landing. The flight was only in the air for a few minutes before having to return to the airport. After conducting a go-around, the aircraft landed safely.
After landing, engineers examined the Airbus A-320 and determined that it was suitable for flight. The flight resumed its journey to Karachi at 12:43 pm. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the passengers and crew members were safe.
This incident is not the first of its kind in the aviation industry. A few weeks ago, a Qatar Airways flight had a close call during its Karachi-bound flight from Doha when it collided with a bird near the runway. The aircraft landed safely, and authorities discovered bird blood and feathers in the engine after inspecting the plane post-landing.
Bird strikes are a significant concern for airlines and airports worldwide. Such incidents can cause significant damage to aircraft, putting the lives of the passengers and crew members at risk. As a result, airlines and airports must take necessary precautions to avoid such incidents, such as installing wildlife management systems and conducting regular inspections of the airport’s surroundings.
